When an image is registered with full mass spectrum of each pixel, it results in enormous amount of data. Processing such datasets is a real problem. Therefore, a need for better compression algorithms is obvious. In latest Journal of Chemometrics  we can find a proposal of significant reduction of data size without the loss of interesting information.
